On the Friday January 16th airing of the Factor with Bill O'Reily there was a segment with inside and oudoor pictures of Poky High.  The topic being allegedly Poky High has ghosts!    I guess this is why we had so much fun.  It was great to see Poky High on the national and international media.  I trust everyone is happy and healthy.  Suzanne Harris    smiley

Hi Suzzanne - Nice to see you are involved in this forum - and giving us a chance to hear from you.  The rumor we have in Idaho that the ghost is Wayne Whitlow, and it may not be a ghost.

Am sorry to learn that you are spending Friday nights watching Fox News, though.

Get to Boise sometime!!

Hi Jerry

You and I must think alike.  I was thinking it was either Mr. Whitlow or Miss Bell.

The factor is aired at 5:00pm so there is still time to get into trouble on Friday.  I haven't been watching ol' Bill lately just happened to be channel surfing.  My brother, Billl Harris, (he is a couple of years younger than we and lives in Thailand) caught this at 6:00 am his Saturday morning.

Good to hear from you and say hello to our classmates for me.

Suzanne

I don't know if this where I post to all classmates, so maybe those of you who know more about this can forward this on.

Since I am now 71, I am doing a major clean out our drawers and closets.  Guess what I found? A May 18,  1961 copy of The Chieftain.  There is our Commencement Program, Letter to Seniors from Ray Scheele and all the photos of who one what contest:  Best Speaker, Best Dancer, etc.  Anyone interested in a copy?  I am able to scan parts of the The Chieftain, but not the whole paper.  Carolyn Davis Cox

I'd like to let you all know that my dearest friend, a 1935 graduate of Poky High, passed away on February 7th, at the ripe old age of 97 years, 10 months. She was my mother.  Her health was pretty good, except for a bad knee.  She just went to bed as usual, and just forgot to wake up.  In her own bed, in her own home, on her own terms.  If you are fortunate to have a parent(s) still living, go see them. You will be glad you did.  I will forever cherish the Happy Birthday she sang to me, saved on my phone, when I turned 71. just sayin. Gene

Gene, it was special to see your post about your mother's passing.....You are so right about being in contact with older family and friends...there is still so many interesting things to be learned from them...and once they're gone....it's gone!....For some reason, I remember your mother and my mother being friends....I think they may have worked together at Farmers Insurance...my mother passed away in 1999 at 91 years of age...Still wish I could ask her about people and things she knew about....Anyway it was a nice post...Best Always, Del Taylor, Glendale, AZ

Gene,  We were very sorry to hear of your mother's passing.  Although you will miss her immensely, you know, as we do, that she is very happy where she is at now, and you will see her again before you know it.  It is very obvious from what we know and have seen of you, that she did a very good job in raising you.  We are certain that your mother truly IS a classy lady.  You are proof of that.  Best wishes to you and Lorraine.

Sincerely,  Lynn and Marsha Buck

Thanks all for comments about my mother. It is appreciated!

My mothers maiden name when at Poky was Eleda Amanda Egan.

I apologize for not get back sooner but I just got back from driving a load of potatoes to east side of Cleveland. Yes, that is Ohio!  I put 382,000 on the 2013 Freightliner Coronado, so the boss took it away from me and gave me a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia. Had to learn how to drive all over again since they are comletely different semi tractors. Thanks again, Gene

Breaks my heart to hear about Terry and other classmates that have passed. She was a beautiful lady inside and out! I enjoyed serving on the reunion committee with her. I served in the Marine Corps the same period Tommy did. God bless Tommy and all family members.

I just finished reading the "Chieftan 1961 Grad Article"  It was great to see how some of the students looked way back then...I also enjoyed the articles---especially Ray Scheele's "Letter to the Seniors"  He was so right about how some of the students acted...I hope they grew up and matured over the years---but sometimes---Peter Pan never grows up....Jacqueline (Cohen) Barnett

I worked with Hoby Essick at Albertson's grocery (across the street from the Bannock County Jail) during our Poky High years and my first year at Idaho State. He was a good friend.

I lost track of him years ago; I'd appreciate it if anyone has any details about his life the last few decades.

I just wanted to let you all know that I have officially been retired from long haul semi driving for a month! I drove for Doug Andrus Distrubuting in Idaho Falls for 13 years, 3 months.  I logged 1,430,000 miles without a chargeable accident.  When I quit (you don't retire from trucking), they asked if I could be available to be a new driver tester, something that could be a "Wal-Mart door greeter job", just to help them out when I had a day or two. However, we have a Duramax and a trailer and we will be using it alot!  Glad to be joining the ranks of the retired! just sayin.

Gene, to paraphrase a line from "Fiddler on the Roof", I don't remember growing older, when did YOU.  Congrats on reaching this point in your life.  I was once told (on my 20th birthday, no less) that "It's all downhill from here".  Some aspects of your life are admirable; others you can keep.  It's been a long road (especially for you) since Garrett's, but I'm glad we've ccrossed paths a few times.  Best of everything in the coming years.

Roma Jenks (Hurley)

Hi Everyone,  I just recieved an e-mail from Jerry Lowe. He informed me that Mike Cawley passed away at his home in Garden City, Idaho on April 13, 2016. It is a very heart wrenching task to add more and more of our good friends and classmates to our In Memory list. However, I am so grateful that we do have our website so that we can pay our repects to our friends together. It is a good thing to remember the mostly good times at Poky High, and if by now we still have any bad memories we should have let them go..long, long ago!! For those of us who are reading this, we have all been blessed greatly that we are still alive and most of us have beloved family and friends. We have a great class of "61" and I for one feel blessed to be a part of it. Many of us are still close friends with our high school buddies,or have rekindled old friendships or discovered new friendships within our classmates, even a few brave souls have ventured the marriage route as recently as a couple of years ago. (Mary Nelle Holman and Guy Gertsch). I am very grateful for the good and wonderful life that I have, and for the friendship of so many of our classmates, it has added so much to my life. Just to let you know, Pat Turman is the new  Administrator for the  pokyhigh class of "61"website. She has helped me a great deal from the beginning and will do a great job.She will also have helpers, so things should not change. So many of you have responded positively to the website that we hope to keep it going indefinitely.
