Gary Clarence Smith was born 5 November 1943 at Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho to Clarence Nicholas and Edna Leona Hawkes Smith. He was the third child of eight born into this family.
He died 10 October 1968, at the age of 24, one month before his 25th birthday, a casualty of the Vietnam War.
Gary was buried in the Grove City Cemetery, Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho, the third son to be buried by their mother.
