I have had a hard time with news of Guy's passing we were good friends for many years growing up. Our group dissipated mid-high school with first Kent DaBell moving with his family and another friend dying in a car accident. Mark and Bruce Rowe also moved away to Washington I believe. I have always coiunted Mary Nell as a good friend. I hope to catch a plane and attend at least the viewing. I only have best wishes for Mary Nell and I know she made Guy very happy. Thanks to Pat Walsh (Thurman) and RaNae Green Palmer for their steadfast efforts in keeping us all informed.

I remember Guy Gertsch and his brother.  Both genuine, nice people.  So where did time pass?  Regards to his family and Mary Nell.  Made a great couple!  So sorry.

I was sorry to hear about Guy. As Jackie said, we shared the adventures of Brennan Street. Guy and his dog seemed to be in constant motion, always on running.

Mary, I was so sorry to hear about Guy,I knew he had a few health issues but, did not expect to hear such bad news. So, glad you found each other and had some good years together. Guy was blessed to have you in his life and vice versa. I know you shared many good memories together. I hope to see you when I return to Pocatello. Our time here in Minnesota has gone by so fast. We are working with the Karen Refugees from Thailand and we love it. We will return to Poky in March. So hope to get together with you then. Love Roma

The recent passing of several of our classmates has brought each of us to reflect, again, on our many friends, those with whom we grew up, and those we learned from throughout our Poky High years. Guy Gertsch's passing touched us all.  Clearly, he was known by all of us.  The memories of Guy posted on this website denote his impact.  Guy authored four books.  You can purchase three of them from Amazon and the latest one published this year and will soon be listed.  How do we go about keeping his memory and those of so many other departed classmates in our thoughts through time?  I contacted the Poky High Bursar, Ms. Cindy Parker.  I asked Cindy if there was a way in which members of the Class of 1961 could make donations to Poky High in memory of one or more of our departed classmates.  Cindy said that the Poky High Foundation receives donations but having individuals from a Class memorialize their deceased classmates, by name, has never been done.  I immediately thought that this is ready-made for our class:  We always have done things that no other class has ever done!  We already have a history, for our Reunion Committee authorized a $500 donation to the PHS Foundation a few years ago, with the funds to be used for students.  Rita Haggardt made the connections.  Cindy Parker will establish a "Class of 1961" account.  You can send a check written to the Pocatello High Foundation, Class of 1961, stating that the donation is in memory of one or more of our deceased classmates whom you wish to memorialize.  You can send a donation any time of the year.  The funds will be spent only for teachers and students, such as class items and field trips.  You can also target the use, such as for a scholarship, which, through time, could provide a student with additional education.  If you want more information, you can reach Cindy at 208-233-2056, extension #4.  The address for your donation in memory of a classmate is:  Pocatello High School Foundation, 325 N. Arthur, Pocatello, Idaho, 83204.

For the out of town people who may not know....Ray Snyder had heart surgery to replace a valve on June 6th at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.  Subsequently, he has had 8 more surgeries, been on dialisis, and in ICU for 3 months.  Today or tomorrow he will be moved to a different floor, which is great news.    He has been one terribly sick man, and I must say he is one tough Marine.  Keep him in your prayers.  If you would like to send a card the address is....

A couple of weeks ago we attended my husbands 60th Poky High reunion.  Upon signing in I noticed that Carolyn Poore Rhondeau had signed in, and I was tickled thinking I could get a current address on our classmate Rita Rhondeau.  I was saddened to learn that Rita had passed away, and requested Carolyn furnish me more information so I could update Rita's information.    I received the following in an e-mail tonight.

"Rita Rhondeau Marsh passed on May 31, 2012 in Reno, Nevada suffering a heart attack while visiting the family's summer home at Lake Tahoe.  She was married to George Marsh where they lived in a Del Webb Retirement Community in Roseville, CA.  She is survived by her husband, George, and children, Lorna Kae Culligan of Lincoln, CA, son, David Culligan of Loomis, CA, and grandchildren Justin and Taylor Culligan and Alexandria Culligan and numerous nephews and nieces.  One brother, Willard (Bill) Rhondeau of Citrus Heights, CA survives.  Rita is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Rosella Rhondeau, her sister, Marianna Cole, and three brothers, Jack, Ronald and Robert (Bob).   Thank you for asking about Rita.  I loved her like a true sister.  Carolyn."

Rita was shy, had a very kind soul and was fun to be around.  RIP my friend.

I see Eugene Richards name with no notations on it.  I don't remember the year or even what to relate the time wth, but I remember being told that he was killed in a car accident in Mexico.  I am guessing it was in the 70's or early 1980's that it occurred.  His wife had lived in Mexico and I think he was there on a visit.

Thanks, Glenn.  I've wondered many times over the years about what happened to Eugene.

I was talking with a veteran that was in submarines in the Navy.  I then thought of Terry Bowman, who was a Naval Officer and wondered if anyone knows his status.  I would love to make contact with Terry, if it is possible.  He is not on the website at all.  If you have info--post, or message me.  Thanks Glenn

Hi Glenn,    While Jack Bradford (lives in Alabama) was visiting me this summer I got in touch with Terry.  He lives in Eagle and came over to Meridian (where I live) and the three of us played golf and then his wife joined us for dinner.  First time I had seen him in years.  His phone nuymber is 208-939-8158.  I'm sure he would love to hear from you.  Hope all is well with you.  Scott Bistline
